In the fall, Merlin Spie will present an overview of her oeuvre. She’ll show work from the comprehensive series Swallow, for which she resided in the Frans Masereel Centre in Kasterlee, and screen-prints from the series Mona Lisa in Peerstroop. There will also be monumental sculptures and video art on display.
Merlin Spie follows a path formed by a special sensibility. Her search for the smallest emotion or matter always leads to artistic creations with the body as the starting point. Returning motives are social themes and critical reflections on inner processes. These determine her changing idiom of performance and its residues to screen prints, drawings, photographs and installations. The text on Spie’s performance on the 15th of November 2015 in the Verbeke Foundation can be downloaded via this link: AK.
